The Midwest Automotive Media Association was formed in the fall of 1991 as a professional organization for journalists and public relations people involved in the automotive industry. Our membership has grown to more than 150 and includes print and broadcast journalists, and corporate and agency public relations professionals. Many members also are engineers, old car buffs, and/or racing enthusiasts. 

Full membership ($50) is open to journalists who cover the auto industry. Associate membership ($100) is open to public relations people working in the automotive field.

What We Do

MAMA's primary purpose is to provide a forum in the Chicago area for newsworthy people, major issues, and new products in the auto industry. MAMA holds eight to ten luncheon programs per year featuring guest speakers from car companies and other major newsmakers in the auto industry. More than 250 people attend our annual event at the Chicago Auto Show, the opening event for the press preview. 

Every fall MAMA sponsors a road rally for its members that features significant new vehicles. In March 1996 we held our first winter rally, which included off-road driving in 4-wheel-drive vehicles. The following year we traveled to the Bosch testing facility in Indiana for our second winter 4WD rally. For the past two years MAMA has hosted the Spring Collection, a two-day event which features track time, on-road driving and off-road driving.
